As per Economic Survey 2020 - 21, Haryana has developed an extensive canal network consisting of 1521 channels which have spread in an area of 14125 kms.The state's canal system consists of two major water systems, the Western Yamuna Canal System and the Bhakra Canal System. As per the Economic Survey 2020 - 21, the Western Yamuna Canal system has total 472 canals covering the total of 4311 km. As per Economic Survey 2020 - 21, Bhakra Canal System is the largest canal system in the state with a total length of 5867 kms and has 521 channels.

This canal provides irrigation facilities in Jind, Fatehabad and Sirsa. It was constructed in 1896 and it is the longest branch of Western Yamuna Canal System.
It is a sub - branch of Delhi branch of Western Yamuna Canal which flows from Khubru village to Jhajjar district. The haijar canal is a sub - canal of the Bhalaut branch.
It is a sub - branch of Sirsa branch of Western Yamuna Canal. The canal provides water to Hisar district.
The canal was remodelled in 1959 but originally it was built in 1825.
One of its main branch, Bhutana canal provides water to the Hansi area of Hlisar district.
This canal originate from paleochannel of Chautang river.
It flows through the Jind district of the state. Rohtak canal and Bhiwani canal are its main branches, These branches provides the water to Rohtak and Bhiwani districts for irrngation and other activities.
The Munak canal is 102 kms long. The Munak canal carries water from Munak village in Karnal to Haidarpur in Delhi.
It is one of the main sources of drinking water for Delhi. An MoU was signed between Haryana and Delhi in 1996 for the construction of Munak canal. The project was completed in 2012.
